St Andrews and the East Neuk

The historic City of St Andrews is recognised the world over as the Home Of Golf. The town boasts seven publicly owned links golf courses including the famous Old Course which frequently hosts the Open Championship - the next one in July 2021. Away from the golf course, St Andrews has an extremely rich history, inhabited since the sixth century, it played a major part in Scotland's medieval history. Today it boasts Scotland's first university and a rich cultural and community life.

The East Neuk of Fife is the strip of coastline bordering the most northerly part of the Firth of Forth - "Neuk" is the Scots word for nook or corner. As such, it comprises the fishing villages and small towns of Elie, St Monans, Pittenweem, Anstruther, Cellardyke and Crail. It is an area with traditionally strong seafaring ties and a thriving arts scene. Anstruther the main town on the East Neuk lies just 9 miles South of St Andrews.
